Sunday mornings are made for waking up to the smell of something baking. It could be cornbread or hot southern biscuits. In a Liberian home, it could be rice bread, cornbread or shortbread biscuits with crawfish gravy, cassava or boiled plantain. 

That wonderful scent has a surreal power that pulls you up out of bed to either go to church or start a day of cleaning. For some it’s simply relocating to the kitchen table and starting with a mimosa or bloody mary depending on your Saturday night. The day is filled with laughter, gospel or oldies on the surround sound and lots of love and memories.
